Former border guard and three private individuals charged with bribery in freight transport sector
The Internal Security Bureau has referred a criminal case to the Prosecutor's Office for the Investigation of Crimes against the State. Its objective is to initiate criminal prosecution against a former State Border Guard official, who is currently on leave from service.
Suspicions are being raised regarding acceptance of bribes from a freight transport company. Furthermore, the prosecutor's office proposes to charge three private individuals with giving bribes as part of an organised group. These individuals are likely connected to the same freight transport business from which the border guard allegedly accepted bribes.
The criminal case was investigated under the supervision of the Internal Security Bureau, which is responsible for investigating crimes against the state service. The matter has now been referred to the prosecutor's office to decide on raising charges.
