Blogger Strazdiņš prepared to take legal action over police accusations
Internet blogger Elviss Strazdiņš has expressed his readiness to fight in court after criminal proceedings were initiated against him. The events began after he published a video recording in which he communicated with a person who allegedly carried out a cyberattack on the "Latvian state forestry" database.
Police conducted an unexpected visit to the blogger, carried out a search, seized electronic equipment, and he was also questioned at a police station. He has currently been assigned the status of a person against whom criminal proceedings have been initiated. The blogger claims that his only intention was to inform and educate the public on cybersecurity issues. Meanwhile, law-enforcement authorities accuse him of impersonating a representative of a state enterprise.
