'Cert.lv': Foreign ransomware group claims responsibility for cyber-attack on 'Latvijas Valsts meži'
The Cyber Incident Prevention Institution 'Cert.lv' has reported that a foreign financially motivated ransomware group has claimed responsibility for an attack on AS 'Latvijas Valsts meži' (LVM). The State Police has initiated a criminal investigation.

The Cyber Incident Prevention Institution "Cert.lv" has announced that the attack on the information systems of Latvia's state forestry company was carried out by a financially motivated criminal collective from another country.
This group uses ransomware to encrypt victims' data and demand ransom payments. They have publicly claimed responsibility for this incident.
LSM reports that law enforcement authorities have already responded to the incident. The State Police has initiated a criminal investigation to investigate this cyber-attack.
The attack affected a state-important company engaged in forestry and related infrastructure. Such incidents demonstrate that Latvian companies are also targets of international cyber criminals.
