State police have detained two men who were allegedly involved in trafficking narcotics in Āgenskalna.

Two men detained for drug dealing in Riga
On 1 July, officers from the Riga Pārdaugava police precinct detained two men in Āgenskalna who are suspected of trafficking in illegal substances. The information was provided by State Police.
The first man detained was born in 1983, the second in 1976. The first had a substance containing amphetamine found on him. More than 50 grams of a substance containing cocaine was found on the older man, as well as other illegal substances that are currently undergoing examination.
Both men have had previous contact with law enforcement in drug-related matters. The man born in 1976 was remanded in custody by the court. The younger man was already wanted in connection with another criminal case in which he was also remanded in custody.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 253.1 of the Criminal Law for unauthorised trafficking in narcotic substances. This offence is punishable by imprisonment for two to eight years, confiscation of property, or probation supervision for up to three years.
