An altercation between several people broke out yesterday at approximately 9 p.m. on Siļķu Street in Liepāja. Two participants in the confrontation sustained injuries.

Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 21:40 following several calls. Medical personnel arrived and provided the necessary assistance to the injured parties. The nature of the injuries is not being disclosed in detail.

Order police received a report of the incident at approximately 21:38. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found several people, two of whom had sustained injuries and received medical support.

One of the suspected perpetrators was taken to a police station. A criminal investigation has been initiated, and inquiries are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident, said Rūta Strautniece, a spokesperson for the State Police.

Earlier, information circulated on social media claiming that two people had been stabbed with a knife in the Lauma microdistrict. Initially, law enforcement authorities neither denied nor confirmed this information. Subsequently, the police clarified that there is no evidence of knife use, and no such serious offence has been recorded in Liepāja. Order police also commented on a video circulated online showing a man with a bleeding leg and torn trousers, as well as another young man with a bloody jumper and several other youths present at the scene.
