Fraud call centre liquidated in Kharkiv that defrauded Latvian residents
A fraudsters' call centre has been completely liquidated in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv that specialised in defrauding Latvian residents. During the liquidation operation, callers were detained who had promised trusting citizens that they would help recover funds stolen by other criminals.
The scheme defrauded Latvian residents of at least 200 thousand euros. The fraudsters contacted victims, offering to recover money they had already lost, but in reality defrauded them of additional sums themselves.
Latvian police became involved in an operation that surprised the criminals in Kharkiv. The fraudsters were convinced that no law enforcement representative would travel to a frontline city to detain them.
