Estonian citizen continues driving in home country after licence revoked in Latvia
In late May, State Police shared video footage documenting a pursuit of a motorcycle. The incident began in Bauska and continued along the road towards Ķekavas municipality. The motorcycle driver exceeded the speed limit, failed to comply with police officers' demands to stop and created dangerous conditions on the road. The vehicle had a hidden registration number – part of the characters were obscured.
The offender is an Estonian national. On Latvian territory, he had already received a severe penalty, including suspension of his driving licence.
The question of how such a driver can continue to use a motorcycle in Estonia and other countries remains unanswered. This case raises concerns about mutual recognition of administrative sanctions between the Baltic states.
