Hooligan incident in Jūrmala café: man arrested for threats against police officers
Two men detained in Jūrmala following aggressive behaviour in a café. One of them arrested — he threatened police officers that he would take their firearms.

The State Police report that in the evening of 29 May a man was arrested in Jūrmala in connection with hooliganism and threats against law enforcement officers.
Police officers received a report from residents that a group of people in a nearby café was behaving aggressively. A pair of men were in conflict, displaying physical force against other patrons and disrupting the business's operations.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers established that both men were visibly intoxicated and were not complying with lawful police requirements. One of them was particularly aggressive and made threats against the police officers — promising to take their firearms from them.
Both men — born in 1988 and 1986 — were detained. A criminal investigation was opened in connection with the incident for hooliganism committed by a group of persons or connected with resistance to representatives of authority.
Having assessed the evidence obtained, both were recognised as suspects. One was remanded in custody as a security measure. According to Apollo, the arrested man has a criminal history: he was previously convicted for theft, fraud or embezzlement, as well as for refusing to submit to drug testing.

Over the weekend, a second case of violence was registered in Jūrmala — during the Resort Festival, a mass brawl broke out on the street in which one man sustained injuries, and the attacker was charged with hooliganism.
