Four people arrested in Latgale; more than a kilogramme of cannabis seized
In June, law enforcement officers conducted raids against drug dealers in Daugavpils and Augšdaugava municipality. Four detainees were remanded in custody, while the total mass of seized prohibited substances exceeded 1.2 kilogrammes.

In June, law enforcement officers conducted several searches and detentions in Daugavpils and its surroundings, resulting in four men being remanded in custody. Investigators seized a substantial quantity of prohibited substances — a total of more than a kilogramme of cannabis and several hundred grammes of amphetamine.
The first incident occurred on 16 June in Naujenes parish, where law enforcement officers, acting on a case already initiated, found 130 grammes of cannabis product at the residence of a minor — a young man born in 2005. The young man was taken to the police station.
Ten days later, on 26 June, Daugavpils detectives arrested a thirty-four-year-old man. Amphetamine — 325 grammes — was found in his possession, as well as a substantial sum of money in cash, namely almost 3,500 euros. Data obtained during the investigation indicated that this man was dealing drugs in Daugavpils.
For these two separate incidents, law enforcement officers initiated two criminal cases under the provision of the Criminal Law providing for punishment for unauthorised manufacture, purchase, storage or transportation of prohibited substances without the purpose of selling them. Punishment for such a violation can be imprisonment of up to three years, forced labour, a monetary fine or probation.
On the last day of the month, 27 June, police officers in Daugavpils found more than a kilogramme of cannabis and more than a thousand euros in cash at the residences of two thirty-year-old men — both born in 1993. Both were arrested and placed in detention.
