During the past weekend, an unlocked Opel Astra went missing from a private home's courtyard in Pušmucova Parish, Ludza Municipality. The vehicle was noticed missing between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. A criminal investigation has been initiated into the incident.
State Police have reported that the car's owner had left it unlocked. The thieves drove the vehicle away, but lost control and crashed approximately one kilometre from the theft location. They then abandoned the car and fled.
Law enforcement found the crashed vehicle and drew up a road traffic accident registration protocol. The car was returned to its rightful owner.
