State Police have detained a group of four people who, over a period of several years, engaged in sexual acts with animals at an animal-keeping facility in Latvia.

Four individuals came to the attention of police after investigators discovered that they had engaged in sexual acts with animals over a period of several years at a facility on Latvian territory. This information was reported by pmo.ee.
Operational officers together with a structural unit of the State Revenue Service obtained information in late 2025 about possible animal cruelty, which prompted the initiation of criminal proceedings. The information obtained indicated that, at least from 2021 onwards, erotic events had regularly taken place at the facility in question, during which people engaged in sexual intercourse with various animals. The activities had been recorded in video and photograph format, although there is no evidence that these materials were sold.
During the search, all animals connected to the offences were removed from the facility. Specifically, law enforcement officers found more than ten horses, one dog and one cat. Money totalling over 4,000 euros, obtained through illegal means, was also confiscated.
The detained individuals are four people. Two are Latvian nationals, one holds both Danish and Swiss citizenship, and another holds Russian citizenship. They have been imposed security measures without deprivation of liberty, including a strict ban on keeping or having contact with animals.
Investigators are aware that the individual with Danish and Swiss passports is currently imprisoned in another country for a similar offence.
The case has been classified under several provisions of the Criminal Law, including the distribution of prohibited pornographic material depicting sexual acts of humans and animals, as well as animal cruelty and torture organised by the group following a prior agreement. The case is being handled by the Department for Combating Organised Crime, Serious and Serial Offences.
