The people detained without documents apparently attempted to illegally cross the state border or were transported with the aim of reaching another European Union country.
The Polish citizen who was driving the minibus now faces charges of illegal human trafficking and aiding illegal immigration. This type of criminal activity is classified as a serious offence under both Latvian and European Union law.
