A physical conflict between several people broke out in Liepāja on Siļķu Street over the past weekend, leaving two people injured.

The State Police reported that information about the incident was received at approximately 21:38. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found several people, two of whom had sustained injuries and required medical assistance. The emergency medical services were called to the scene at approximately 21:40.

A suspected perpetrator has been detained. The police have initiated criminal proceedings and continue the investigation to clarify all circumstances of the incident, said State Police representative Rūta Strautniece.

Reports previously appeared on social networks stating that two people had been stabbed in the Lauma district; however, the police initially did not confirm such information. The State Police indicated that there are no reports of people being stabbed with knives, and such a criminal offence has not been registered in Liepāja. In video circulated on the networks, a man with a bleeding leg and torn trousers can be seen, as well as another young man with a bloody jumper.
