On Friday evening, law enforcement detained a man who on the first half of the day caused a road traffic incident in Līvāni, then threatened with an object resembling a firearm and fled.

As reported by TV3.lv, the State Police apprehended the suspected perpetrator on Friday evening.

On the day of the incident, Friday afternoon, in Līvāni on Rīgas Street, the driver of a Volkswagen Passat for unknown reasons crossed the road's centre line and entered the opposite lane, where he collided head-on with an oncoming BMW.

At the moment of collision, no one sustained bodily injuries.

After the accident, the Volkswagen driver exited his vehicle and left the scene. Eyewitness recordings that circulated on social media revealed that the man was holding something that resembled a firearm. For this reason, some of those present fled in their own vehicles.

Initial information available to police also indicated that the fugitive could be carrying an object resembling a firearm.

A criminal case was initiated regarding this incident, and law enforcement had identified the suspected perpetrator at an early stage.
