Cannabis cultivation discovered in wardrobe in Ogre: man born in 1991 detained
Police in Ogre discovered a cannabis cultivation facility set up in a wardrobe within a flat, equipped with lighting and ventilation. A man with no previous police record has been detained.

The State Police in Ogre have discovered a cannabis cultivation facility set up in a wardrobe equipped with lighting, ventilation and foil inside a flat, reports apollo.lv.
Information about a man growing cannabis in his residence in Ogre was received on 19 August this year. The following day, officers from the Pierīga Eastern District of the Riga Region Division of the State Police arrived at the address and conducted a search.
During the search, approximately 500 grammes of dried plant-based material, which is most likely cannabis, were removed from the wardrobe, as well as ten seed packets, fourteen empty packets and one cannabis plant. The seized material was sent for examination.
A man born in 1991, suspected of committing a criminal offence and with no previous police record, has been detained. He has been assigned a security measure that does not involve deprivation of liberty.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 256, part one, and Article 253, part one, of the Criminal Law — for unlicensed cultivation of plants containing narcotic substances and for unlicensed storage or transport of narcotic substances without the intention to distribute them.
The State Police remind that no person is considered guilty until their guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law.
