Drug courier Roland Priverts receives one year in prison after lengthy legal proceedings

The Supreme Court Senate has reached a final decision in the eight-year legal process — Roland Priverts, who became known as a drug courier and later published a book, has been sentenced to one year behind bars.

At the time the judgment was announced, the man was not in Latvia. He gave an interview to Apollo.lv, in which he explained how he would proceed further.

Priverts acknowledged that he had sought help from influential people in his circle. He also expressed his views on how the justice system operates in Latvia.

The man became known to the wider public because of the "wooden tea" scandal, which he later wrote a book about.
