State Police have detained three men who engaged in organised drug trafficking involving unlawful storage, sale and manufacture of narcotics. A total of more than 25 kilogrammes of various controlled substances were seized.

Three men have been detained near Riga after police operations uncovered an organised group engaged in unlawful storage, sale and manufacture of narcotic and psychotropic substances. Multiple police units were deployed for the detentions.
The incidents occurred on 13 February of this year. Law enforcement officers detained the suspects immediately after a one-kilogramme cocaine transaction took place in forests near Riga, involving a dead drop. This step marked the culmination of an operation that began in early February.
The detained individuals were born in 1995, 1997 and 1999 respectively and had no prior convictions. Two days later, on 15 February, a court imposed a security measure of remand in custody on all three.
Investigators determined that the group trafficked in cocaine, marijuana, amphetamine, mephedrone and ecstasy tablets. Additionally, they manufactured amphetamine themselves in their residences.
Nine searches were conducted at addresses associated with the individuals, yielding a substantial quantity of controlled substances and other evidence. The Riga region criminal police, Special Tasks Battalion, counter-terrorism unit "Omega", and technical support specialists assisted the police.
The case was initiated under Part Three of Article 253.1 of the Criminal Law — for the manufacture, procurement, storage or transportation of prohibited substances for the purpose of sale, where such actions were committed by an organised group on a large scale. This offence carries a sentence of imprisonment from five to fifteen years.
