The Internal Security Bureau has requested that criminal prosecution be initiated against a State Police officer who used an electroshock device twice without grounds against detainees.

The Internal Security Bureau (ISB) has requested that criminal prosecution be initiated against a State Police officer in the Riga region. The official is accused of abuse of office authority related to the use of force.
Investigators have established that this police officer, whilst performing his duties, used an electroshock device against detainees in two separate incidents. He did so without any lawful grounds and without first warning the individuals.
The suspect has currently been prohibited from holding a specific office and is also forbidden from leaving the territory of the state.
