Reality show participant faces court over drugs case
The Riga District Court is continuing to examine a criminal case against Niks Endziņš – a public figure who previously participated in a reality show and was involved in spreading disinformation. He is charged with possession and distribution of prohibited substances.
The law provides for imprisonment of between eight and fifteen years for such an offence.
During the proceedings, it emerged that when law enforcement arrived, the man attempted to flee through an upper-floor window. The seized psychoactive substances, believed to be cocaine, were hidden in an office chair.
At the last hearing, the court was to review expert reports. Specialists examined whether samples taken from the defendant's hands and blood at the time of detention contain traces of prohibited substances, and how they could have come to be there.
At the court hearing, Endziņš appeared in good spirits and made remarks that had not been heard previously.
