On the evening of 22 June, an Audi car disappeared from the territory of a private house in Sakstāgala Parish in Rēzekne Municipality. The theft was reported to the State Police, and officers began search operations.

During the night, at approximately 1:30 a.m., law enforcement officers spotted the sought vehicle in Ciskādi township, travelling towards Ozolmuiža Parish. Police switched on warning lights and sirens, ordering the driver to stop, but the driver continued driving, completely disregarding the police request and exceeding the permitted driving speed.

Following pursuit, officers succeeded in stopping the vehicle and returning it to its owner. The detainee turned out to be a boy born in 2009, who had previously been caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the youth for vehicle theft, which can result in imprisonment of up to five years. He also faces liability for violating traffic regulations by failing to comply with the requirement to stop the vehicle — this violation can result in a prison sentence of up to one year.
