Riga drug-trafficking group imprisoned following deals with police agent
For months, a lucrative and carefully organised illegal drug-trafficking network operated in Riga car parks and apartment building courtyards, using the cover of darkness. Its members sold hundreds of grams of prohibited substances, feeling unobserved and secure.
However, their confidence was misplaced. One of their most trusted buyers was actually a police agent who concealed his true identity. The law enforcement authorities used this opportunity to infiltrate the scheme and gather evidence.
Greed for larger profits caused the criminals to lose caution, and this became their downfall. Investigators managed to uncover and dismantle this drug-trafficking network, resulting in several suspects being convicted. One of the main participants in the scheme received a 13-year prison sentence.
