Police have completed an investigation into an arson that occurred in September 2025 in Daugavpils, in which a utility building and cemetery plots were damaged. Three detained men were born in 2004 and 2005.

Police have concluded their investigation into the criminal case of a fire at the Daugavpils Municipal Cemetery. The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor's office.
On 11 September of last year, in the early morning hours, law enforcement received a call reporting a fire in the cemetery park. It turned out that several youths had entered through a window and set fire to a utility building containing tools, as well as vandalising several burial sites.
Investigators, working alongside Daugavpils municipal police, carried out operational measures, which resulted in the identification and detention of three men. Two of them were born in 2005, and one in 2004. At the time of the crime, all three were under the influence of alcohol.
Notably, one of those born in 2005, upon seeing that the arson was taking place, not only failed to report it to police but also helped the other two hide from accountability. All three had previously not come to police attention.
The accused face several articles of the Criminal Code: for destruction of property by fire, for vandalising cemetery sites when committed as a group, as well as for failing to report a serious crime.
