Latvia's State Police have initiated a criminal investigation relating to the dissemination of false rumours concerning recent drone incidents, reports LSM.
The investigation has been opened under Article 231, Part 1 of the Criminal Law – concerning a serious breach of public order or hooliganism. Police are investigating individuals who have disseminated false information on social media or through other channels regarding allegedly occurring drone incidents.
Such conduct can create unjustified alarm among the public and impede the work of state institutions. For such a violation, penalties may be imposed ranging from a fine, to public work, or deprivation of liberty for up to two years.
