State Police Officer Suspected of Unlawful Stun Gun Use
The Internal Security Bureau has referred a criminal case to the Prosecutor's Office against a police officer from the State Police Riga Regional Department, who is suspected of exceeding his official authority by unlawfully using a stun gun on detainees in two separate incidents.

The Internal Security Bureau (IDB) has referred a criminal case to the Prosecutor's Office against a State Police Riga Regional Department officer. He is suspected of exceeding his official authority in connection with violence — unlawfully using a stun gun on detainees in two independent incidents.
During the investigation, the IDB obtained a sufficient body of evidence indicating that the police officer, whilst carrying out his direct duties, used the stun gun without legal grounds in both cases and without prior warning to the individuals involved.
The suspect has been subject to a prohibition on holding a specific office, as well as a prohibition on leaving the territory of the state.
