Driver caught in Zaķumuiža attempting to conceal driving ban with another person's documents
A patrol from Ropažu municipal police registered a vehicle moving at substantially excessive speed in the Zaķumuiža area. After the vehicle was stopped, the driver initially attempted to deceive the officials by presenting a licence belonging to another person.
Following a lengthy conversation, the man admitted that the presented document was not his property. During inspection, law enforcement officers concluded that the true reason for such conduct was an enforceable court order prohibiting this person from operating a vehicle.
Alarmingly, the man's partner and a small child, exposed to unnecessary risk, were also in the vehicle during the journey.
The detained man was handed over to State Police officers. Two criminal proceedings were initiated against him – one for concealing personal identity to evade liability, and another for non-compliance with a court order.
