According to h24info.ma, officers from the Tangier police prefecture arrested a 27-year-old man on the morning of Tuesday, 8 September, suspected of having robbed a money transfer agency under threat of a bladed weapon.
The suspect, already known to police services, entered the financial establishment and forced staff to hand over funds. Subsequent investigations allowed officers to identify him and proceed with his arrest rapidly.
Upon his arrest, police officers discovered cash in his possession in both dirhams and European currencies, presumed to be proceeds from the robbery. A motorcycle lacking legal documentation, which allegedly was used to facilitate his escape, was also seized.
The suspect was placed in police custody, at the disposal of the judicial investigation being conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office. Authorities are seeking to establish all the circumstances of the theft as well as any possible motives for the act.
