Eight people have been arrested by law enforcement in the Anfa neighbourhood of the Casablanca metropolis following a night-time altercation that escalated. The suspects are accused of striking two passers-by using bladed weapons and damaging several parked motor vehicles.
According to information published by Le1.ma, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday 26 June. Witnesses alerted the authorities about a group of individuals who appeared to be intoxicated and under the influence of narcotic substances, who were causing a disturbance in the street.
Police officers responded quickly to the scene and were able to apprehend all those involved shortly after the incident. The two victims were attended to and damage caused to the vehicles was documented.
The eight people held in custody were transferred to the relevant prosecutor's office to be questioned as part of judicial proceedings. Investigators are working to reconstruct the exact sequence of events and to determine the reasons that provoked this brawl.
The charges brought against the suspects include public intoxication, consumption of illicit substances, violence with weapons, and destruction of property belonging to third parties.
