Crime in Souk El Arbaa: dismembered body found in several locations in the Es-Salam neighbourhood

On Thursday 22 October, a 56-year-old man employed at a laundry in the town centre of Souk El Arbaa of Gharb was killed, his body cut up and his remains scattered in several locations. Today Le Maroc reports that the crime deeply shook the Es-Salam neighbourhood, where both the victim and the suspect lived.

According to legal sources cited by the newspaper, the victim had been maintaining an intimate relationship for some time with a woman in her forties, mother of two children, married to a Moroccan national living in Spain. The motive for the crime remains undetermined at this stage, and investigators are working to reconstruct the chronology of events.

The flight to Meknès and arrest

After the deed, the suspect left Souk El Arbaa for Meknès, where her sister lives, apparently in search of refuge. Upon arrival, she confided the details of the murder and the fate of the body to her. Shaken by the gravity of these revelations, the sister did not keep silent. Two versions are circulating: according to one, she would have convinced the fugitive to present herself to the Meknès police station; according to the other, it was she who alerted the police services.

In any case, the woman in her forties ended up in the hands of the judicial police and confessed to her crime.

The search confirms the worst

Once informed, the police in Souk El Arbaa of Gharb despatched a special brigade to the family building in the Es-Salam neighbourhood. Investigators had to force open the apartment door, which was locked, to proceed with a thorough search.

The suspect had indicated that she had cut up the body and disposed of the pieces in different ways. The search confirmed the worst: the victim's head was found in a barrel filled with sand and earth; the hands were in the refrigerator. The rest of the body was discovered in close proximity, in a rubbish dump adjoining the neighbourhood.

The investigation handed to the Kenitra public prosecutor's office

The mobilisation was substantial: numerous police officers were despatched to the scene to record the facts and gather evidence. The victim's remains were then taken to Kenitra morgue, where an autopsy is to clarify the causes and exact circumstances of death.

The investigation continues under the supervision of the general public prosecutor's office at the Kenitra Court of Appeal, tasked with determining what led to such an act. The suspect was held in custody before being brought before the courts.
