Moroccan law enforcement dismantled a group comprised of Algerian nationals specialising in the production of forged documents and the trade of illicit substances.

On 25 and 26 June, an elite unit of the Moroccan police conducted an operation that resulted in the capture of six individuals from Algeria. This action was made possible by information provided by the internal intelligence services (DGST).
Among the people arrested was a man appearing on the list of individuals sought by Interpol, following a request from Algerian magistrates. This suspect is accused of actively participating in a drug distribution network. At the time of his arrest, officers seized forged residence permits, which revealed the extent of the criminal operation.
Investigators subsequently managed to locate and arrest five additional accomplices. These individuals allegedly established a system for producing false documents: forged criminal record certificates, papers for fictitious companies and other counterfeit titles.
The objective pursued by this organisation was to illegally obtain residence permits in Morocco, whilst concealing their true identity to evade international investigations.
The searches made it possible to recover several items of evidentiary value: foreign passports, ten counterfeit seals, a computer, mobile telephones, two vehicles used for the group's movements, a cheque book and substantial sums of money, presumed to come from their illicit activities.
The computer equipment seized will be analysed in order to identify the circuits for producing forged documents, the beneficiaries of these services and the network's contacts.
The six suspects have been placed in provisional detention and are being questioned under the authority of the competent prosecutor. Investigations continue to determine the exact role of each individual, trace financial movements and examine any potential extradition requests to Algeria, in connection with the international warrant.
