Six Algerian nationals arrested for forged documents and drugs in Morocco
Over two consecutive days, Thursday and Friday, security forces conducted an operation resulting in the capture of six men from Algeria. These individuals are believed to be members of a criminal network operating in the production of forged documents, fraudulent identity appropriation, unauthorised residence on the territory and drug resale, according to information provided by Yabiladi.com.
It all began with the arrest of a first suspect, also Algerian. International authorities were already searching for this person via a red notice issued by Interpol, at the request of the judicial authorities of his country for illicit drug trafficking linked to an organised criminal structure. At the time of his arrest, officers found forged residence permits on him, evidence that enabled them to dismantle the rest of the group.
The investigation subsequently led to the location and capture of five other accomplices. Initial findings reveal that this organisation was manufacturing fraudulent residence permits, falsified criminal record extracts as well as attestations from shell companies. Their aim: to fraudulently obtain resident cards on Moroccan soil and escape proceedings brought against them abroad.
Searches carried out at the suspects' residences resulted in the seizure of various objects: passports issued by other nations, ten officially reproduced stamps obtained illicitly, falsified administrative documents, a laptop computer, mobile telephone devices, two vehicles, a cheque holder and considerable sums of cash presumed to come from the network's illicit activities.
All those detained were handed over to the competent authorities and remanded in custody pending the continuation of judicial proceedings.
