On the morning of Friday 3 July, the police authorities in Tangier apprehended a 25-year-old man. The suspect, who already has multiple judicial convictions, was located thanks to a clip widely circulated on the internet in which he appears brutally assaulting a teenage girl who was waiting near a bus stop reserved for worker transport, in the Beni Makada sector, before snatching her phone.

Security officers had identified this content on digital networks, although no victim had yet come forward to the police station to report these acts. The popularity of this sequence facilitated the investigators' work, allowing them to identify the perpetrator.

Search operations deployed on the ground in Tangier resulted in his capture. At the moment officers apprehended the individual, he showed signs of intoxication due to the consumption of narcotics, according to details provided by security services.

At the same time, law enforcement officers re-established contact with the assaulted person in order to obtain her account of events and incorporate it into the proceedings. This initiative allows a legal dimension to be given to acts initially identified through online surveillance, in the absence of any prior action by the complainant.

The defendant was remanded in custody and placed under the supervision of the public prosecutor's magistrate, with the objective of clarifying all the details of this case and establishing the charges against him, both for the assault on the young woman and for the theft of her mobile device.
