The Kénitra Court of Appeal decided to open a judicial inquiry following statements attributed to a candidate in the upcoming legislative elections, according to Google News MA. These comments, circulated on several social networks, suggested that a significant quantity of drugs could be mobilised and that funds obtained from its sale would be used to influence the result of the ballot, expected at the end of the month.
The Attorney General of the King before the Kénitra Court of Appeal clarified, in a press release, that the inquiry would aim to establish the circumstances and elements surrounding these statements, made during a party gathering, and to take the necessary legal measures.
The prosecutor's office recalled that this initiative falls within its remit, in particular "to ensure the proper conduct of the electoral process, as well as compliance with the law and the integrity of electoral operations", according to the terms of the press release.
