17-year-old arrested for drug trafficking in Għaxaq

A 17-year-old adolescent from Msida was arrested yesterday after noon on suspicion of drug trafficking in Ħal Għaxaq. The arrest was carried out following a period of surveillance by the police, according to a report by Lovin Malta.

Law enforcement officials said they had been observing the young man and recorded suspicious movements, including multiple meetings with different individuals, which appeared to be connected to drug sales.

After his arrest, inspectors conducted a search on him and allegedly found 53 packets containing substance suspected to be cocaine, 11 packets with substance suspected to be heroin, and three other packets with substance suspected to be synthetic cannabis.

The police also seized mobile phones, cash and other items said to be connected to drug trafficking.

The young man is being held in the police lock-up in Floriana and is expected to be charged this morning before Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech.
