Ħal Għaxaq: Police Seize Four Heroin Blocks and Charge Two People Before Court
Maltese authorities recovered a quantity of suspected drugs worth approximately thirteen thousand euros on the street and pressed charges against a man and a woman.
The operation began as police started to observe a 49-year-old man living in Ħal Għaxaq. There was suspicion that he was involved in drug trafficking. For several days, officials followed his movements and observed him carrying out certain actions that drew their attention, particularly in the Fargħug area.
Last Friday morning, investigators stopped the man whilst he was driving a Range Rover vehicle. After a search, they found one block of a substance that appeared to be heroin. Further searches in the vicinity revealed two other blocks hidden inside a wall.
Following this, police went to the man's home in Ħal Għaxaq and also to the home of the 29-year-old woman who lives in Tarxien. There, law enforcement found various objects that appeared to be related to drug dealing, multiple mobile phones, and a large amount of cash.
Magistrate Monica Borg Galea was informed of the case and conducted an inquiry. This morning, the 49-year-old man is expected to be arraigned before Magistrate Lara Lanfranco. The investigation is ongoing.
