Three people were arrested in Mosta following a police investigation into alleged drug trafficking that led to the seizure of approximately 1.3 kilogrammes of powdered cocaine. The police said the drugs have an estimated value of €160,000 on the market.

The arrests came after weeks of surveillance on a 31-year-old man who is said to be the principal suspect in the case. Investigators observed a number of suspicious movements, particularly during the night.

The man was frequently seen leaving a residence on Triq Grognet and visiting an apartment on Triq Rużar Briffa, where a 33-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman allegedly lived.

Searches carried out at the two properties led to the discovery of the powdered cocaine, along with various items allegedly linked to drug trafficking. The police also seized a number of mobile telephones and cash.

Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia was informed of the case and ordered an inquiry.

The three suspects are currently being held in the police lock-up in Floriana and are expected to be charged in the coming sittings.

The police investigation is ongoing.
