Two Dutch men arrested in Malta in drug trafficking investigation
Two Dutch men, aged 34 and 38, were arrested in Swieqi after police investigations linked them to an alleged criminal network involved in the importation and trafficking of drugs.
Two Dutch men arrested in Malta in drug trafficking investigation
Two Dutch men were arrested in Malta in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged importation, trafficking and possession of drugs. The arrests took place in Swieqi on Monday evening, according to a report from Lovin Malta.
The investigation had already led to another person who was charged in court earlier this year over offences related to drug importation and trafficking. Police said that further investigations linked the two suspects to the same alleged criminal network.
The suspects, aged 34 and 38, were arrested in Swieqi. Through a search carried out at one of the men's residence in Swieqi, police seized drug-related objects, together with approximately 890g of a substance suspected to be amphetamine and 550g of a substance suspected to be ketamine.
In a separate search at the second suspect's home in Ħal Kirkop, police found further drug-related objects, pink pills, a package containing allegedly cocaine, and a number of hidden documents.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia opened an inquiry into the case. The two men remained in police custody and were expected to be charged in court on Tuesday before Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech.
