Amphetamine factory in Silesia dismantled – three people arrested
Police in Katowice have shut down an illegal drug manufacturing facility and seized over 50 kg of substances. Three suspects face up to 10 years in prison.
Silesian police dismantle drug factory, three people arrested
Officers from the Drug Crime Unit of the Regional Police Headquarters in Katowice have dismantled an amphetamine factory and arrested three people, according to wkatowicach.eu. Counter-terrorism units from Kraków and Opole took part in the operation.
The investigation lasted many months. Police officers monitored individuals linked to the drug manufacturing operation in one of the towns in Silesia. Once they had gathered sufficient evidence, they entered the property together with counter-terrorism units.
At the scene, approximately 30 kg of amphetamine, 18 kg of ecstasy tablets, 3 kg of marijuana, as well as cocaine, methamphetamine and mephedrone were seized. Officers also confiscated approximately 30 litres of liquid substance, which they provisionally identify as liquid amphetamine – laboratory tests will confirm the result. Two rifles, a submachine gun and 300 rounds of live ammunition were also found.
Three suspects were arrested: men aged 33 and 60, and a 31-year-old woman. During the search, police also seized nearly 300,000 Polish złoty, which may have come from drug sales. The funds were secured for potential fines.
All three have been charged with possession of a significant quantity of narcotics. The prosecutor has not ruled out expanding the charges with additional offences. The 33-year-old has been remanded in custody. The 31-year-old has been placed under police supervision, asset bail and a ban from leaving the country by the prosecutor. All those arrested face up to 10 years imprisonment.
