Double murder in Puerto Rico: body of Félix Plaud found in Guayama

Police link two murders to suspect who took his own life in Puerto Rico

The Puerto Rico Police confirmed this Friday that the corpse found with multiple gunshot wounds in a plot of land in the Borinquen neighbourhood, in Guayama, corresponds to former pro-statehood activist Félix Plaud, who had been reported missing hours earlier. This was reported by elvocero.com, which provided detailed coverage of the press conference held by the authorities.

The discovery is part of an investigation that connects two homicides to William Noel Rivera Sánchez, 45 years old, who reportedly died by his own hand.

The attack on the lawyer in Ponce

The murder of criminal lawyer Luis Quiñones González occurred around 10:50 in the morning, shortly after the attorney left the Ponce Court and began driving behind his wife's vehicle.

Both were travelling through an intersection on Las Américas avenue when another car stopped behind the lawyer's truck. A man got out of the vehicle, approached the truck and fired multiple times at Quiñones González using two firearms.

The lawyer's wife witnessed the attack through the rear-view mirror. After being shot, the lawyer's truck impacted the vehicle she was driving.

The woman responded by firing several times in the direction of the attacker as he left the scene, according to the preliminary account from the authorities. With the help of citizens present in the area, she took her husband to a hospital, where Quiñones González died as a result of his injuries.

Evidence links suspect

The shots fired by the lawyer's wife are now part of the evidence that investigators are seeking to connect to Rivera Sánchez's vehicle. During the proceedings, agents located that car with bullet impacts; analyses will be conducted to determine whether they correspond to the projectiles fired during the attack in Ponce.

In the apartment where Rivera Sánchez was found dead, three firearms were also seized. The police will examine those weapons to establish whether any was used in the two murders.

Debt of over $100,000 as possible motive

The police superintendent, Joseph González, revealed during the press conference the existence of court documents that confirm an economic dispute between Rivera Sánchez and Plaud. In August 2025, both parties reached a court settlement through which a debt exceeding $100,000 was acknowledged.

The information is relevant because Rivera Sánchez had mentioned a dispute related to commercial investments in recordings in which he claimed responsibility for the murders. Nevertheless, the authorities clarified that they have not yet established whether that dispute was the motive for the crimes.

Investigators are working to verify whether the court settlement was complied with and whether there were other circumstances linked to the facts. The authorities also insisted that Rivera Sánchez's statements in the recordings should not be interpreted as confirmed facts.

Call for calm from the superintendent

"As superintendent, I want to assure our people that the Puerto Rico Police will continue working with firmness, responsibility and professionalism to completely clarify these facts. Violence can never be the answer to a dispute," González declared.
