Video confession following two murders in Puerto Rico
According to telemundopr.com, William N. Rivera Sánchez was found dead on Friday in his apartment, hours after posting videos on social media in which he confessed to the murder of a lawyer in Ponce and that of a former leader and activist of the New Progressive Party (PNP).
The first crime occurred at around 10:45 a.m., when Luis Quiñones González received multiple gunshots while leaving the courthouse in a white Dodge Ram van. The vehicle crashed into a pole following the attack. Quiñones González's wife, who was travelling in front of him, took him to Dr. Pila hospital, where the lawyer died from his wounds.
During the shooting, the lawyer's wife repelled the attack and fired at Rivera Sánchez.
Minutes after the shooting, Rivera Sánchez posted two videos on his social media accounts confessing to the crimes and linking them to a dispute over money from an investment. "I got tired, I got tired of doing things the right way, and yesterday I decided to do things the wrong way," he stated in the recordings.
In the same videos, Rivera Sánchez made statements against Félix Plaud, a former student leader of the PNP, who was reported missing by his family shortly after.
At 1:57 p.m., police confirmed the discovery of Rivera Sánchez's body in his apartment, where he had barricaded himself before taking his own life. Three firearms were found at the scene.
At around 2:30 p.m., authorities reported another bullet-riddled body in the Borinquen neighbourhood, near a Total petrol station, in the municipality of Guayama. In a press conference, police confirmed that it was Félix Plaud and noted that the former activist had met with Rivera Sánchez at around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, from which point nothing more was known of his whereabouts.
