On the morning of Wednesday, police force personnel carried out a raid in the municipality of Manatí, as a result of an undercover investigation that extended for approximately twelve months. Superintendent Joseph González provided details to the Pegaos en la Mañana programme on Radio Isla 1320.
According to the highest-ranking official of the Police, undercover agents conducted covert purchases over an extended period to gather evidence. The investigation focuses on individuals who allegedly illegally trafficked in firearms and controlled substances. The material evidence includes audio-visual recordings obtained during the transactions.
González emphasised that this intervention is not linked to the homicides recently recorded in the northern part of the island, although he indicated that those investigations are also progressing and could yield developments shortly.
The Police Chief refrained from disclosing the names of the alleged individuals involved or whether there are minors among them, arguing that the operation was still active and further interventions remained to be carried out.
The police institution will release additional information once the actions are concluded and charges are filed. This operation is part of the Police's strategy to eradicate clandestine trade in firearms and narcotics in various points across the territory.
