Elements of the Criminal Police from Braga carried out search operations at the PSP station in Barcelos on Monday morning. The operation took place as part of an inquiry focusing on a police officer approximately fifty years old, with over two and a half decades of service in the force.

According to what was established, the suspect had created false breach-of-regulations notifications directed at small merchants. Subsequently, he would contact them and propose to "resolve" the administrative proceedings in exchange for small compensation.

The situation was discovered when one of the approached businessmen shared the case with a second officer from that station, who decided to report the colleague's unlawful conduct.

The searches aimed to gather evidence at the officer's workplace. He was present during the operations and was formally constituted as a suspect.
