Couple detained for aggravated drug trafficking at Vila Real prison
The Judicial Police arrested a couple on suspicion of introducing narcotics into Vila Real Prison, as disclosed by Correio da Manhã.
The man is 35 years old and was serving a sentence in that prison facility. The woman, 27, was intercepted during a conjugal visit when she passed heroin and cocaine to him that she was carrying inside her body, properly packaged.
After receiving the delivery, the inmate immediately hid the substances in his own body. However, he was caught and subsequently expelled the drugs shortly after.
The PJ believes there is substantial evidence that this practice would be repeated, given the method used by the couple. The investigation is being handled by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Vila Real.
The partner will be brought to court for initial questioning and the application of coercive measures. The inmate, already being detained, awaits a judicial decision.
