Remand in custody for two suspects of trafficking in Gondar neighbourhood

Penafiel Court remanded in custody on Tuesday a man and a woman detained as part of a GNR operation against drug trafficking in Gondar neighbourhood, in Guimarães. Two other people involved were ordered to report daily to a police station.

The same operation resulted in the detention of a man who had been evading authorities for approximately two years, wanted in connection with two attempted murders. The suspect will be brought before a judge on Wednesday, where measures of restraint will be imposed on him.

Correio da Manhã had already reported that this fugitive, considered the principal detainee, had an extensive criminal record including charges of possession of prohibited weapons, drug trafficking and two attempted murders. He had been sentenced to five years in prison, a sentence he never served.

According to what CM ascertained, the detainees lived in two properties in the same neighbourhood, both of which were searched during the operation. They consist of a couple, the couple's daughter and her partner — the man who was on the run. Three minors also resided in the same properties, who were handed over to relatives. The four suspects are identified as dealers in cannabis, heroin and cocaine.
