US citizen caught in Lisbon with seventeen kilogrammes of cannabis
A 36-year-old man from the United States was apprehended at the airport of Portugal's capital when he was transporting seventeen kilogrammes and six hundred grammes of cannabis in his baggage. The individual was in transit from Thailand with a destination of the United Kingdom.
The arrest was carried out on 17 June, with the suspect being placed in preventive custody. The substance found was of high purity and contained elevated quantities of tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive component of the plant, which would allow for the production of approximately seven thousand and one hundred individual doses.
The investigation continues under the direction of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of the capital, with the aim of dismantling the entire structure of the trafficking scheme.
The operation is part of periodic initiatives developed at the country's borders to prevent the entry of narcotics into national territory.
