The head of Batalha Volunteer Fire Service will be tried for domestic violence. Hugo Borges, who has directed the emergency services corporation since 2021, has been accused of insults and threats against his former partner, the mother of his two children.

The complaint was filed by his former partner, who claims to have been subjected to verbal assault and controlling behaviour during 25 years of their relationship. According to the allegation, episodes of insults and threats occurred regularly throughout the entire period in which they lived together.

The victim describes a pattern of conduct that lasted more than two decades, with accusations of control and humiliation. The case is now in judicial proceedings, with the commander answering in court for domestic violence offences.

Hugo Borges has led Batalha Volunteer Fire Service for approximately four years, having assumed command of the corporation in 2021.
