A man was arrested in the Portuguese capital after attacking a woman with a knife in the car park of Leiria Shopping. The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

An individual was captured in the Lisbon area, just hours after attacking a 46-year-old woman with a knife in the underground car park of the Leiria Shopping shopping centre. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The incident occurred on Thursday, around 13:15. The woman was in a romantic relationship with the attacker. The motives leading to the assault have not yet been clarified.
After the crime, the man left the scene and fled to Lisbon, leaving his car behind in the shopping centre's underground car park. The vehicle is being examined by police.
The PSP closed one of the car park exits shortly after the assault, whilst investigations were ongoing at the scene.
"The victim is not in danger. It is a minor injury. We are consolidating the evidence," the PSP stated. The woman received assistance at the scene before being transported to Leiria hospital.
CCTV footage from the shopping centre captured the couple moments before the assault. Police are analysing the recordings.
