54-year-old man arrested on suspicion of homicide in Lamego
A 54-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) as the presumed perpetrator of a homicide that occurred on Thursday in Cambres, in the municipality of Lamego, district of Viseu. The arrest, made outside of flagrante delicto, resulted from investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department of Vila Real.
The crime took place around 13:00 on Thursday, in the locality of Cambres. According to information released by the PJ, the suspect became involved in a dispute with another man with whom he had an acquaintance relationship. The motives underlying the confrontation appear to be connected to the consumption of narcotics.
During the altercation, the detainee allegedly inflicted several blows against the victim using a bladed weapon. The injured person was immediately assisted, but ultimately did not survive the injuries, dying in the Emergency Department of Lamego.
The 54-year-old man was presented before the Court of Lamego for his initial interrogation and for the application of restraint measures deemed appropriate.
