The family members of Odair Moniz and the Public Prosecution Service have decided to appeal the judicial decision that condemned officer Bruno Pinto to three and a half years of deprivation of liberty, without the sentence being served in a closed regime. The court opted for suspension of the execution of the penalty.
The relatives of the victim expressed perplexity at the outcome of the case. The Prosecutor General declared support for the position of the Public Prosecution Service magistrates, who believe that the punishment applied to the defendant does not reflect the gravity of the crime committed.
