Gang of 19 robbers dismantled following nine violent home raids in Greater Lisbon
A network of 19 violent individuals was dismantled by the Judicial Police (PJ) in December of last year, as part of the so-called 'Operation Balaclava'. The group carried out raids on residences in the Greater Lisbon region, completing nine attacks in just over a year.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the criminals selected their victims through advertisements for the sale of high-end vehicles published on the internet, particularly on the OLX platform. They would wait for the vehicle to be sold and, subsequently, with access to the seller's address, would travel to the location armed and wearing masks.
The robbers presented themselves as Judicial Police inspectors, displaying police badges, and invaded the homes spreading terror. In a few minutes, they would steal large sums of money. The first robbery occurred on 14 May 2024, when the group invaded the house of a businessman, believing that he had in his home the 31,000 euros for which he had listed the vehicle for sale.
