The Guarda Nacional Republicana carried out a criminal prevention operation in the vicinity of the Waking Life festival, in the municipality of Crato, district of Portalegre, on 16 and 17 June. The operation resulted in the detention of two people and the seizure of 147 doses of various illicit substances.
Military personnel from the Portalegre Territorial Command conducted inspections at the main access points to the event venue. In total, 82 doses of amphetamines, 30 doses of hashish, eleven doses of cannabis, eight LSD stamps, six doses of MDMA, five ecstasy tablets and 5.76 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms were collected.
During the operation, two offences relating to drug trafficking were registered. In addition, officers issued twelve contraventions under the road code and as many for possession or consumption of narcotics.
The Waking Life festival took place in the municipality of Crato and attracted significant numbers of people to the area. The GNR strengthened its presence on the ground with the aim of combating crime and increasing the sense of security among participants and residents.
